Any individual who is a Cyprus tax resident and earns gross income from sources such as employment, business activities, pensions, rental income, interest, dividends, or the disposal of crypto assets must submit a tax return.

2. Cyprus tax residents based on age

Regardless of income level, all Cyprus tax residents who are aged 25 or over but under 71 as at 31 December of the relevant tax year are required to file a tax return.

3. Non-tax residents with Cyprus-sourced income

Individuals who are not Cyprus tax residents are still required to file a tax return if they earn gross income from sources, within the Republic during the tax year.

Those Individuals who are required to maintain accounting records

Individuals who are obliged to keep accounting books and prepare audited or reviewed financial statements—where annual gross income from business activities, rents, dividends, interest, or royalties exceeds €120,000—benefit from an extended filing deadline of 31 January of the following year (for example, 31 January 2028 for the 2026 tax year).

Possible exemptions

The Council of Ministers may issue decrees granting exemptions to additional categories of individuals. This may include those whose income does not exceed the tax-free threshold, which is currently set at €22,000 for the 2026 tax year.
